Thoughts About Beauty

This might be my first deep and personal post I've ever made.

Outer beauty, I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I think it's a subject that touches everyone more or less.
These thoughts started to get very intense when I thought about my own insecurity about my appearance. One of my New Years Resolutions are to build my self-confidence and make myself stronger. I believe that everyone have their insecurities.

Our society is highly based on beauty and appearance, this makes the pressure very heavy
My thoughts about beauty are very divided.
Is it possible to change the thoughts of society or should we adapt?
What I mean about adapting to society is that many people do cosmetic surgery.
I'm actually not totally against it, but I'm not sure if I'd do it myself because I'd feel bad about myself. If I did a cosmetic surgery I'd feel that I threw away the features and genetics that my mom and dad gave me. I wouldn't feel like myself anymore. So lately I've been reminding myself that there's actually nothing wrong with me, I'm a healthy girl. So why should I be unhappy about my appearance?

Another thing is that people might think it's unfair that they didn't get any good features. But this of course "in the eye of the beholder". What about being beautiful for yourself? If this is the case, is it still not okay (as many people think) to do cosmetic surgery?
The big question is what do I want to achieve by being beautiful (for myself)?
I've come up with a possible answer, and that is happiness.
So will I achieve happiness if I do the surgeries I want or should I start to change my way of thinking?
I do think that people may achieve happiness through surgeries, but I don't think it'll be a long lasting happiness.
I want to point out that I don't look down on people for making that choice, people should do what ever they want, as long as they're happy.

This is a quote I found on Michelle Phan's youtube channel.
"Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It means that you've decided to look beyond the imperfections"

What I think people should do (including myself) is to focus on the things you have and embrace it, everyone have their own special features and diversity is beautiful.

These are my own thoughts and opinions.
What do you think about beauty and cosmetic surgery?

And about my self-confidence, I'm still working on it, but I think I might be on the right track now. ^___^
Insecurities are never easy to deal with.

Bye for now!

  1. Hellow♥
I'm newly following you. My name is Jacqueline and I'm from Germany. Nice to meet you♫

So, you're thinking about beauty, plastic surgery and so on? I have to admit that I thought about these topics a lot, even plastic surgery but I didn't came to an straight answer for myself.
Sadly it's a fact that the outer apearance of human being will be a hot topic forever.
Who didn't thought about correcting his or her nose, extracting fat or maybe Botox (alright, this isn't plastic surgery but also a change of "yourself")? I told myself that I have to live the way I am now. Even if I don't like myself why would I have to do plastic surgery to feel any better about myself? Seriously? I would just feel like betraying myself.
I'll be honest, right now I don't feel happy in my body but this wouldn't be a reason for me to do a surgery. Nobody will carry the feeling of confidence for themselves every time. I guess this will never be possible on this world.
I won't ever judge someone for doing plastic surgery. I guess everybody must think about it by his/her own.
We're free (at least everybody pretends that we are..), so do what you want as long as you're satisfied with it♥

  2. Nice to meet you too Jacqueline! ^____^
First of all I want to say, thank you for following me! And also, thank you for reading this and answering it properly. It means a lot to me.

I totally agree with you :)
Actually, right now I'm working on embracing myself, one should be happy for the things you have not sad for the things you wish you had.
So keep it up! I hope you'll be confident and feel comfortable with yourself soon. You seem like a really nice girl!

  3. I warmly welcome you. I like your blog, it's very interesting♥
    I guess I'm so much into gal-blogs these days~ (° w °")

    Agreed on your agreement♫
And thank you so much. I hope so too. But being nice won't be always the key to success. :/
    But I'm trying hard!

    Best wishes♥

  4. Hi ^-^
I'm a new reader, nice to meet you (:

About beauty and plastic surgery...I'm not agaisnt plastic surgery, I think if someone isn't happy with how they look and if doing surgery makes them happy I think it's fine as long as it isn't an obsession and they don't change their completely faces/body and even their personality.
Appearance is very important to communicate with the society, get a job or whatever because it gives you self-confidence. Appearance will always be a important matter.
But there are people who are over too obsessed with beauty and appearance which can become a problem too, they change themselves completely right?

    This what I think haha.

    kiss ♥

I've been thinking about this allot! And it is the truth! Cuz' when you're negative everyone will think bleh and walk away from you... when you feel loved and feel strong everyone come to you... ''To shine positive energy!''

I've been like this for ages now...(But it's improving!)

No one is perfect and we all have our problems you know. But each one of us is unique and we all have something that the other one doesn't! And it's just like you said... We have to focus on the things we have... *gorgeous eyes, nice butt'' you know what i mean! :)

And a pretty and beautiful gal'like you shouldn't be thinking like this!! You're gorgeous babe! Remember that! <3 Huggles*

  6. Even though I don't like anything about myself, I've never even considered cosmetic surgery. (Mainly because of the anaesthetics..) Some people are naturally beautiful, and I'm just not one of them. Sure, I was a cute kid, but then it just went downhill from there. >_> My self-confidence has hit rock-bottom as well...

  7. I've been a reader of your blog for some time now, but I haven't commented much so I hope you don't mind me answering ^^

Well, I think that it's a person choice: to do it or not. It's okay as long as it's nothing too drastic, such as changing your WHOLE appearence.
If someone doesn't feel right with some part of their body that can't be changed by makeup or diet, and has the money, and knows in what they are getting, I think they can do it.
For example, I'm only 16 but since I was 12 that I've thought about making a nose surgery because when I was little I hit my nose so it now has a bump, that I started hating. My mom gave me permission to do the surgery, but a doctor that's her friend told me that I can only do it when I turn 18. And then he told me something that completely changed how I saw my nose, he said"You have a good nose, there are people with really ugly noses, but yours isn't one, your nose fits your face very well and if you change it; it might not fit it so well and you may regret it"
At 1st I was like"...okay" but then I realized it was true - my friends also told me many times that my bump isn't noticeable that much and that it's fine like it is, but just when I heard those words that changing might not be good, it hit me really hard. And now I've learned to accept this nose, and I actually like it now (:

So I think that people must think REALLY before doing surgery, because once they do it, there's not much you can do to turn back to your old self. People must accept themselves, if you don't think you're pretty then you're 'sending a message' to others something like "okay guys I'm not pretty so don't think that about me", but if you have confidence you'll look very pretty & attractive - that's the key, in my opinion: confidence

This society is very shallow, and unfortunetely appearence will always matter - but if you feel good about yourself, it's all okay, it doesn't matter what others think! You must love yourself, if you don't...that's really bad, and will send bad 'signals' to others, self-confidence is always good <3
And what exists make-up for? To enhance our beauty, and 'disguise' the imperfections, it's really magic, to me...as long as it isn't used too much, of course.
There are many ways to change our appearence to make us look good to ourselves (and, only then, to others, 1st to ourselves!) and I think that plastic surgery should be one of the last ways to change it. ^^

And sorry about the huge text...I always write too much @.@

Please be happy with your appearance, you are a very beautiful person!
    Take care~♡

  8. hi :)
i'm a reader of ur blog and first of all, i absolutely love this new layout!!! :D
    so, about ur post...
i think that nobody in this world feels really at ease with himself and this depends precisely on the society in wich we live.
Now the ideal of beauty is part of the fees that we "mere mortals" don't have, don't get me wrong, i don't mean that we are below the standards but simply that we can never reflect the "plastic beauty" that is imposed on us.
However, i'm not against cosmetic surgery, but only in cases where it can change only small imperfections. I think is terrible to upset their features only to look like barbie and by i refer to surgery performed by heidi montag of The Hills.
For me the real secret to feeling beautiful is not just about having confidence in themselves but also to have around people that accept us as we are and not make us feels maladjusted.
i tried not to make a speech too long,if you want to elaborate upon or simply find a friend to talk to, i'll leave you my blog address where u can find me, cause i think that write on it with far friend is most of the time easier that talk with everyday friends :)

ps. last but not least, i think u're a beautiful girl, in the phisycal and mental appearance :)

  9. Jacqueline: Thank you so much! ^__^ I'm happy you like it!

But beauty isn't everything either. :) People are friends mostly because of a good personality. And if that's you on your avatar, in my opinion you're beautiful!

    Keep trying!<3
    Best wishes to you too!

  10. Bommiie: Nice to meet you too! ^___^ Thank you for reading my blog!

I agree with you! People should just be careful and think before they do it, because it can make you feel even worse.

  11. Alexandra: Hahah, aaw, thank you! When I come to think of it, it's actually true! Positive energy does make a difference!<3
Aaaw, thank you, girl! This really makes me feel better! *hugs back*<3

  12. Yuzuki: Malin, I'm sad that you feel like this, but you shouldn't, I think you're beautiful, you just haven't discovered your own beauty yet.
My suggestion is to let yourself have a make-over (possibly by me) and you'll discover that make-up, hair and such is a great tool to enhance your own beauty. I think this will help you get some confidence, and as Alexandra said, if you are confident about yourself you'll see that people will think you're beautiful too.

You're not alone, many people feel like this.*hugs*<3

  13. I'd love to let you do a make-over on me sometime, but it'll have to wait until it gets warmer. ^^ I can't stand the cold that well... T_T

  14. Minsu: Thanks sweetie for answer. I like that you put so much energy to write to me. Thank you!
I can only agree with you!
    Thank you~~!<3

  15. Oshi: Thank you! ^_____^
Thank you so much sweetie. I really appreciate that!
